Along with some other titles that have finished airing already, Bungou Stray Dogs has been interestingly good to watch. If you remember back when I did a first impression of this series (or did I?, well I did write something about this series previously) and back then I said that I was not enjoying the first few episodes of the series until one episode had me jump off my seat (that was when Atsushi first met Akutagawa and he had his foot cut off, yeah) so after that scene it made me want to watch even more just to see how good the story gets.
Surprisingly, it did catch my attention up to the last episode and what I can say it that the execution of the story (plot) is very well written. Also, I'll just cut my reviewing for a little while to tell you guys that lately I've been reading my previous "Reviews" and I've noticed that, well, I think comparing it with other people's reviews of anime and stuff, they weren't really "reviews" as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying that they weren't my own review of the series, but as far as the construction of the blog post goes, for me, it wasn't really "on par" with the others. So starting with this review of Bungou, I'll re-construct my way of writing a review of a certain series and I hope (and I will) do better this time around. XD
So going back to the topic, the story starts with Nakajima Atsushi, an abandoned orphan, homeless, and unemployed. He then meets Dazai, Osamu and with an unexpected turn of events (by that I mean Dazai notices that Atsushi has a supernatural power and can transform into a weretiger) he joins the Armed Detective Agency (a group of individuals with supernatural powers). Unfortunately for Atsushi, as soon as he joins the Agency, he becomes a wanted person by the Port Mafia (also a group of people with supernatural powers) and has an 8 Billion Yen (not sure but I think I'm sure) bounty on his head.
That's pretty much where the story revolves. The Agency, while doing their own work, tries to protect Atsushi from being taken by the Port Mafia. Along the way, we see how Atsushi improves on controlling his own ability (since he can't control it on his own before) and eventually battling it out with Akutagawa. The characters also are a bit "interesting" so to speak. Some are your common, clumsy type and some are very "extraodinary" like the pairing of Naomi and her "brother" Tanizaki. XD
What's good with this series is that you never know what will happen on the next episode unless there were cliffhangers. The battle scenes are also greatly done. Might I add that sometimes their abilities doesn't really make sense, like Dazai's ability, but still manages to be convenient to the other characters involved in the story. All-in-all it's really fun to watch and if you're into an action/fantasy/mystery type of anime then this is a must watch for you.
Also, might I add that I SHIP THESE TWO SO MUCH ▼
Also, here's great news for those who have watched this series. As you've noticed on the last episode it seems like it doesn't end there does it? Because of The Guild joining in the fight between the Agency and Port Mafia, I had a hunch that this would have a second season, and not surprisingly, it does. According to My Anime List, the second season will start airing in Japan on October 2016 (Fall Season, if I'm not mistaken). So fellow BSD fans rejoice! Because we will have our second season soon enough! :D
